Hanbleceya Camp
Details - October 6-12, 2008
Camp will
officially begin at sunrise on Monday, October 6th,
2008. There will be a sunrise thanksgiving
prayer/offering on Monday morning.
Everyone is
invited to arrive the weekend before camp and
stay through the following weekend.
This Ceremony,
and all Ceremonies conducted at Turtle
Island, are taught, conducted, and approved by
Maka Luta (Red Earth), Lakota, our Spiritual
Elder.
There will be
teachings throughout Camp from Elders who have
much to share with the People. We will also sit
in Circle so everyone has the opportunity to
share with the People anything they would like
to share.
Thank you for
supporting these Sacred Ways and holding the
People and our World in your heart with Prayer.
Remember, each loving thought and prayer
contains great
power, the only power we were ever given.
Camp Meals:
Breakfast, lunch
and evening meals will be provided.
If you have special items that you want
to reserve for yourself please bring them in
marked containers with your name so others know
they are not for everyone. There may be those
who volunteer to cook the breakfast meal. Please
help them in that task, providing your services
in preparation and cleanup for the good of the
People with a joyful and serving heart.
Coffee and
water will be provided. Water is provided from a
5 gallon water cooler located in the kitchen
area. Please bring a water mug that you can
refill from the cooler. This helps eliminate
plastic bottles which take 25 years to
disintegrate in our Mother Earth. Washable
glasses, cups, silverware, dishes and
cooking pots/pans are provided in the kitchen
area which also help keep waste from being
disposed of in our Mother Earth. If you desire
soft drinks or other liquids please bring them
with you and also ice and a cooler to store them
in.
Containers for
re-cycling aluminum cans are
provided in the kitchen area. Please compact
your cans and place them in the appropriate
containers.
If you
have special dietary needs/wants, we ask that
you bring those items and prepare them for
yourself or ask
others to help you with that preparation.
Everyone
is responsible for picking up, not only after
themselves, but also sharing in the
responsibilities of kitchen clean-up, and
bathroom/shower cleanup. This Camp is
everyone's Camp. Sharing in all the
responsibilities of Camp offers us the
opportunity to serve ALL
the People in a selfless way. Thank you for
giving of yourselves in this way.
Volunteers are
needed for fire tending, drumming, singing,
kitchen help/cleanup, and all tasks that benefit
the People. Thank you for volunteering, if you
are called to help in any area.
Outdoor
bathroom and shower facilities are available.
Please bring toilet paper, disposable hand wipes/hand
sanitizer for the bathroom, and any
shower and
personal hygiene necessities that you may
need.
